LIBRARY RENOVATION NEWS
On March 15, 2016, the Stickney, Forest View, & Central Stickney residents voted to approve the issuance of bonds to the Stickney-Forest View Library for its proposed renovation.
In June, the Library's Board of Trustees voted to enter into contract with R.L. Sohol, General Contractor. The construction will consist of six phases, but the original chronological order has been modified.
On March 1st, 2017, the Library opened its Main Room & AV Area to the general public. This marked the closing of Phases 1 & 2 of our Library Renovation. Phase 6, which consists of renovations in the exterior of the building, will remain in progress.
Phases 1 & 2 refurbished the following:
- The Main Room containing the Adult Fiction, Non-Fiction, & Spanish Collection.
- The Teen Area located on the 2nd Floor.
- The Quiet/AV Room containing our AV & Magazine collection, as well as our daily newspapers.
The diagram below shows our new Main & Quiet Room Layout. Click on picture to expand.
Please note that there are only a few changes to the location of our resources, but if you have any questions regarding any item or service, contact our Library staff.
With the conclusion of the first two phases, our team will move on to Phase 3. This 3rd Phase woll modernize the Community Room located in the Lower Level. Because this space is usually utilized for large patron meetins and events, its renovation will cause little to no changes on our everyday services. However, please check our diagram below for further details regarding available services.
We will continue to post news regarding the Library renovation, including information on changes to our library hours, on our social media accounts such as Facebook, YouTube & Instagram, on this webpage, & on our monthly newsletter, Reading Matters.
