You will first need to get a library card here by following the procedure spelled out above.
Upon receipt, you may then go to the Chicago Public Library branch and they will issue you a card that can be used in their library system.

Chicago Public Library patrons are always welcome at SFVPLD. The procedure to get a card here is as follows:
1) Patrons must have a valid picture ID to prove residency in Chicago.
2) Patrons must have a valid Chicago Public Library card. This card MUST BE in good standing.
3) Once these two items are satisfied, patrons are an application away from the plethora of resources available to them through the Metropolitan Library System. When the application is filled out and the request processed, a Metropolitan Library System card will be issued.
